My two girls’ cartoons preferences evolved from Barney and Elmo to Bratz and Barbie. Recently, their Dad bought them a new Barbie DVD and as usual, it played all day and all night long. Thankfully, their only brother doesn’t mind as he is busy playing new games on his PSP (taking advantage of his long vacation from school).
And speaking of Barbie, as I see my daughters enjoying much of her songs from her new movie, I remember the other movies we’ve watched that contain several songs which I’ve downloaded and saved on my cellular phone simply because my girls loved listening to it.
I then came up with our Top 4 Barbie Musical Cartoons/Movies so if you have little girls, perhaps your daughter/s or niece/s, I’m sure they would also love to sing along with Barbie.
#1 Barbie Princess and the Pop Star
In this sparkling musical adventure, Barbie stars as Tory, the kind-hearted princess of Meribella who would rather sing and dance than perform her royal duties. When her favorite pop star Keira visits the Kingdom, the girls discover they have much in common, including a magical secret that lets them look like one another. At first, swapping places seems like a great idea, until each girl realizes that the other’s life isn’t as easy as it seems! But Meribella also has a magical secret, and when it’s stolen, the whole kingdom is put in danger. Filled with fantastic songs, fabulous fashions, and fun new friends, this is an exciting musical celebration that shows the best thing you can be is yourself.

Look How High We Can Fly
As of this writing, we had just finished watching it for the nth time since hubby bought it. As a matter of fact, every line were already memorized by my daughter Erin. She also requested me to download all the songs from the movie to my cellphone (as usual) and that’s what I’m going to do after writing this post. For now, this movie is on our top list. By the way, allow me to share to you a video of my daughters singing and dancing along with some of the songs from this movie— they had fun and so are we!
#2 Barbie Princess Charm School
Barbie stars as Blair Willows, a kind-hearted girl who is chosen to attend Princess Charm School: a magical, modern place that teaches dancing, how to have tea parties, and proper princess manners. Blair loves her classes — as well as the helpful magical sprites and her new friends, Princesses Hadley and Isla. But when royal teacher Dame Devin discovers that Blair looks a lot like the kingdom’s missing princess, she turns Blair’s world upside down to stop her from claiming the throne. Now Blair, Hadley and Delancy must find an enchanted crown to prove Blair’s true identity in this charming and magical princess story!

Hubby and I got more excited than our daughters when we found modern day Barbie movies/cartoons. The songs in here are hip and groovy and it will leave you humming with your girls too.
#3 Barbie Diaries
As the new school year begins, Barbie is hoping her sophomore year will behold some exciting changes. Barbie is elated when her major crush Todd finally shows interest, but all hopes are dashed when Todd shockingly asks Raquelle to the Fall Formal – especially after he has asked Barbie! At least Barbie has best friends like Courtney and Tia on her side to help get over her heartache. And when Barbie receives a mysterious charm bracelet that opens a special diary, she begins to write about her secret dreams and her luck gradually changes. With the special diary and charm bracelet, Barbie finds the courage to truly be herself and learns valuable lessons about friendship, self-confidence and even romance. Barbie finally gets the courage to audition her band Charmz (Barbie, Courtney, and Tia) to play at the Fall Formal… and they get the gig, allowing Charmz to take center stage and rock the house.
My daughters got excited upon seeing Barbie in a modern day set up (not a fairy or a mermaid) especially when she and her friends portray as band members. Their modern day songs are so cool your girls will surely sing along with the songs.

#4 Barbie and the Diamond Castle
Is a story within a story. When Stacy is having a fight with another friend, Barbie and Teresa tell her a story of a magical land, where two friends are confronted by a wayward muse who seeks to destroy all music but her own. In this land Barbie becomes Liana, and Teresa turns into a character called Alexa. They meet a girl trapped in a magical mirror who asks for their help getting back to the Diamond Castle, so that she can rescue the muses turned to stone by the malcontent muse Lydia The girls face hunger and loss of their home, they are tempted by promises, and their loyalties are tested.
Just like my two girls (and I admit, even me) sang the songs over and over again after seeing this movie.
Here are the songs included:
Two Voices, One Song
We’re Gonna Find It
Double VisionLadies, let’s all admit that once in our lives we dreamed of becoming like Barbie so let’s expect the same thing with the little girls of today’s generation. From fairies to modern day teenage girls, Barbie continues to play a big role to our girls’ growing up years.
