Want To Make a Real Difference in The World?

As the saying goes, ‘the days are long, but the years are short.’ Day by day it feels as though nothing is changing, but when you look back, you realize just how much time has flown. As humans, we only get a limited time on this planet, and so it’s up to us to lead the very best life we can. And if you think hard enough about it, you’ll come to realize that it’s helping others which make the most difference. If you’re in a position to help someone or make their life better in some way, that’s what makes the most impact. You might not be able to change the world, but you can change the world for some people. If you really want to make a difference, here’s how you could go about it.

If you’re in a position where you have food in your cupboards and a roof over your head, you’re already better off than a huge proportion of the world. Even if you’re not a wealthy person and can’t give to charity, you can still give your time and make a difference. You could spend a summer in a third world country helping to construct buildings and teach children. Or you could spend an hour a week at your local women’s shelter, children’s hospital, hospice or soup kitchen offering assistance and support. Whether you have a little time to spare or a lot, anything you do can hugely impact and help the lives of others. Decide where your passions lie and go from there, or have a look online for local volunteering positions you could get on board with.

Become a Surrogate

Having a baby is one of the most incredible, rewarding and fulfilling things we can do in our lives. But unfortunately, it’s not a possibility for everyone. If you want to really help someone out, you could become a surrogate. Many couples spend years trying to no avail or are told that they will never have a child of their own. Being a surrogate is truly selfless and amazing things you could do; it will completely change the lives of the couple forever and you can be truly proud of yourself. If you’re not comfortable using your own eggs (meaning the baby would genetically be yours), there are also options for some couple to use their own fertilized embryos. This can make the process of giving them the baby after it’s birth a lot easier since it’s not your child.

When you teach, you have the opportunity to expand and develop young minds. We all have teachers from our past who were good at their job and made a huge difference to our lives, you could be one of them. You don’t have to change career and go down the teaching route if you have a passion for a subject or activity you could tutor on a more casual basis. Pass on your knowledge and inspire the next generation in the process!

Do you ever find yourself wanting to do more? Would you consider any of these routes?
